And then there was fall

... with all of the leaves I have been getting out of the beds and lawn the last few day, you would think it was fall. My home has a lot of trees around it and they do not drop till close to Thanksgiving so it makes it so hard for me to get them taken care of in the fall. By the time they are down ... it is snowing here. So my springtime clean up is a lot of work.

Yes ... I am still using the 'Spring time' set from TAC! There is so much you can do with this set! It has fall leaves in it too! This is such a versatile set. Only a couple more days to get your double incentives with the "Celebration" with TAC so place your orders soon. I will be busy the last week with a few more work shops.

I feel really prosperous today! I went to a fun raiser for a friend's pre-school and I was the lucky winner of 5 golf lessons, a golf hat (one I can really wear to keep the sun off of me), golf balls, a beautiful spring planter with two violets and ivy in it, and a brand new toaster oven! I don't have one either. We had a great meal, saw friends I had not seen in a long time, danced and had a lot of fun! So to share my prosperity.

It is Blog Candy time!! If you leave me a post on this message before midnight on Monday I will randomly select a name and send you a free TAC unmounted stamp set valued at $5.95. And if I get more than 30 posts I will select two names. Please be sure to leave me your e-mail address so I can contact you directly! Let's see ..... how about sharing with me favorite shade plant (flowering ones too) so I can get some ideas on what to plant in the backyard. If you do not have one .. then your favorite outdoor plant is fine too! Easy care remember! Good luck and blessings

OK, I am feeling safe ...

... today that posting this card will not bring us anymore snow!!! But who know in Cleveland! It is beautiful again today! I was able to get out and do about 3 hrs. of yard work yesterday and hopefully later today I will be able to do it again .... there is so much to do!

Yes, this is the Spring time set again and the snowflakes are in the set too! The designer must live in Cleveland! LOL I used the Scor-pal to make two embossed lines on the scraps of blue paper, sanded them and then used the plastic mesh to poke a line of holes between the two lines for more texture. I added a close up shot so you could see it better. The words are from the Level A set 'It's the little things'. I have one more card to show you and then we will move on from this set. But I hope I have been able to show you a lot of different ways to use one set! Le me know if you type it too. And if you purchase this set from me in the month on April , I will include a scan of each of the cards I have done here for you!

Remember you only have till the end of this month to get the double incentives with TAC. You and a friend can both earn a Scor-pal for half price, a Level A set, and three free Gift with Purchase stamps with a $50 order each! Plus one of you can get a 'Big on Fun" set free with the $100 order. Call or e-mail me soon so we can get your order in. Enjoy your day! Blessings

Still Springtime ...

Springtime stamps set from TAC of course!! Here is another card I did using this set. I used the tree as a branch again and added the tire and a bird. The tire has a long rope so I put a post-it note on the branch so I could stamp the tire shorter. I dirty stamped (or second generation stamping - stamp a second time without re inking) for the leaves in the tree to add depth. The paper I used is Amelia SWIC and notice I cut the tag in half and only attach half of it for interest. Of course had to put on some score lines ..... it's like I can not leave a blank area alone on my cards anymore since I got my Scor-pal! I have to add embossed lines or something for depth and extra detail. The great thing is it does not add weight to the card for mailing and it is easy and quick to do! Remember if you still need ..... and yes I mean NEED a Scor-pal for half price .... all you need to do is you and a friend both place a $50 order with me and you can both get a Scor-pal for half price, and a Level A set set and 3 Gift with Purchase stamps each for FREE! Oh, you can also get one of the 'Big' for Fun Limited editions set free to share. Now you need to hurry since the promotion ends the end of April.

Also, if you purchase this, Spring time set, this month from me I will include a scan of all the cards I have made using it for your inspiration.

I plan on showing you two new ways to use your Scor-pal next week if you are not convinced you NEED one!! Count your blessings daily and pray for all who are in need . Blessings

Great day for a birthday!!

It was a great day today!! I woke up early to lots of snow and lots of school closings ... my little Gabby couldn't run in the snow it was so deep. I took my camera out and took some of the cutest pictures ... I'll post later ... she had to make tunnels to go in and the snow is as deep as she is tall. It was fun. The after doing a few things my high school girlfriend called and asked me to lunch! It was nice since she was off work due to the snow. Ran errors and got ready for my class and another great friend stopped in with a 'Happy Beagle Day!' cheese cake!! It is do good and looks so cute!! I will show you how she made it look like a beagle later. The started packing for my road trip and had a great class. The girls sang to me and we had cheese cake and some of them brought cards. I also, had a great mail day with cards!! Thank you all so much for all of the cards and well wished here on my blog! It was a great day.

Day 7 Scor-Pal Fun

Oh ... what a cold and snowy day we are having ... they say when it is all over we will have 10-12" ... I hope not!

Today we will using stamping on the scored lines made with the Scor-Pal. First I scored a half sheet of white CS at 4 1/4" and creased. Then I took a piece of dark pink MatchMakres CS and on the wrong side (smoothest side) I scored it at 1/2" on all four sides. Then I lined it up and scored it on the diagonal within the scored frame ... all on the wrong side of the CS. On the right side I sanded it so the white core would pop out.

Then on a 3 inch square of white, I scored it on the diagonal every 1/2 inch. Then I turned it over so the raised diagonal scored lines were up and scored it over top them at 1/4 inch on all four sides.

I flipped it over again so the diagonal raised lines were on the back. Then I stamped a bold image on top being sure to TWIST,TWIST ... TAP, TAP, TAP (from my down-line Rita H) to get a good coverage on the stamp.

Putting it all together with ribbons and bows I think it has a lot of cool texture on the paper and on the image. The image you use must be bold or with a lot of detail on it.

I hope you enjoy! Today's question is which of the stamping magazines do you read the most ... a hint to one of my surprises .... maybe!!

Tomorrow is the last tutorial and all messages must be posted by 10 PM EST so I can draw the winners!! Blessings

Day 6 Scor-Pal Fun

Thanks so much for all of the kind words from everyone this past week ... I have two more tutorials to go. I appreciate all of you for taking the time to view my creations! Thanks so much .... I am so blessed to have you all in my life! I have two exciting announcements coming soon also! I am trying to keep my composure and not say anything about them yet ..... but I will really soon!!

So let's put the last few days of ideas all together ...... the possibilities are endless! Here I took a half sheet of MatchMakers CS and scored it at 4 1/4" and creased ... then scored at 1/2" increments on the diagonal. Remember this is all done on the wrong side of the CS.

Next I sanded it to make the white core pop ...

And lastly I inked lightly over the diagonally sanded scored lines with a darker color of ink. Isn't that a nice look. I wanted to try it with a few other shades but did not have time today. I promised myself I would get my taxes ready and take them in .... so that was my top priority today .... and it DID get done!

We are suppose to have a lot of snow on Tues so I will have time to try a few more cards with this look and post them. Two more days of tutorials for using the Scor-Pal for cards and then I will put all of the names of stampers who have left comments here each day into a basket and draw out two names.

Deadline for entering is Wed Feb 27 at 10 PM EST. I need to draw before I go to bed since I will be going out of town the next morning for the weekend for a stamping retreat! YEAH!!!!

Here is today's question ..... What colors do you create with the most (not black, white or cream)? Blessings

Day 5 Scor-Pal Fun

Diagonals ... they really give a great texture to your cards! On this card I scored on the diagonal every inch and then stamped an image in each of the diamonds. This is such a soft and easy to make card.

First score on the wrong side of a half sheet of paper at 4 1/4" and crease. Keeping it on the wrong side, line the card up on the diagonal with one of the lines on the Sco-Pal. Keep it like that and score on each 1/2" or inch depending on your preference.

Once you have done this, turn the card and score it again on the other diagonal using the same increment.

On this card I did them at 1" increments ... but card I am showing you the technique with I scored at every 1/2" increment.

On this card I stamped the same image in each of the diagonals and then added a few other pieces to complete it. I made this card with all scrapes except for the base of the card. I love doing that! I feel my most creative when I am designing with scraps!

The question for this post is ... hummm ....... what types of cards do you stamp the most of ... birthday, sympathy, thinking of you, get well ... etc? Blessings for the week!!

Day three of Scor-Pal fun!!

I had so much fun today ... I had my TAC-eee Ladies over to stamp for the day and I made some really good soup, one friends brought some great bread, another cooked fruit, and then my favorite cheese cake for dessert. It was great to stamp & eat with friends!

Also, today TAC announced that our 'Celebration' will run from March 1 to April 30. What does that mean to you??? Double customer and Hostess incentives!!! Yeah!!! So book your workshop & get your orders ready!

Day three is an easy card .... for this one I used the Scor-Pal to accent the image with a border. I did two lines 1/4" apart on the first cards in both directions.

Remember to put the right side of the card down!! I did not line the card up with the left edge since I wanted to make two lines 1/4" apart. Click on the picture on the right to get a closer view as to where I lined the card up to score. The second card I am showing here is done in the same manner but I did it on the other side, used different stamps and accented all of the outside border with printed paper. It has a bolder look to it that the first.

Tomorrow I will be show a trick with using ink with the Scor-pal!!

Today's questions is .... which of the new Spring Supplements stamps can you not live without??? OH .... did I forget to tell you that TAC released the Spring Supplement today also!! Go check it out!! Blessings

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Second Day Scor-Pal Fun!!

Day Two ... remember to leave a message with the answer to the question at the end of today's message. Two names will be drawn on Feb 27 .... and the first one will get to select between a half price Scor-Pal or a bunch of uncut RUBBER!! You can leave a message everyday to increase your chances of winning! Today I will be showing you how to grid and sand on MatchMakers white core cards stock (CS). I will show the techniques and give you two different versions of it technique so you can get a better idea of ways to use it. The first picture shows some of the supplies I used plus one of the finished cards. The second picture I scored the white CS in half (4 1/4") and here is a TIP: Keep your paper on the Scor-Pal after you have scored it and push it again into the edge and crease it. This will make sure you have a perfect crease. Note to Andrea!!! Score a grid in a 3 1/2 x 4" MatchMakers, white core CS with the right side down! I showed how to do this on the last post. I did this one every half inch but you can do it any measure you wish.

Then I
sanded the right side of the CS so the white core would show through. In the picture on the left side is not sanded so you can see the difference. I do the sides hard too! After it is sanded, I take my Crop-a-Dile and punch a hole in each of the outside squares. I tied a ribbon in the top left diagonal holes.

On the left I tied a bow and on the right one I tied a half bow for variety. Notice
the pink CS behind itthe image on the right .... I was playing with the idea of putting a piece of paper behind it so the holes would show through a different color ... this one was not enough contrase ... so you will notice in the finished picture I ended up with a chartueuses green.

On the left is one card with the the white showing through the holes and to the right is the one with the green showing through.

Today's question is: which do you do more .. card making, scrap booking, mini book making, or 3D gift items????

Blessings

First Day of Scor-Pal fun!!

This is the week!! I will be showing you how to use the Scor-Pal, with cards only, for the next 7 days!! A new idea each day so keep watching!! And on my Birthday, Feb. 27, I will draw from two winners who have posted comments this week. One prize with be a Scor-pal for half price and the other will be Rubber!! Now who would not like to get some free rubber or this great tool? All you have to do is post a comment on my posts (everyday if you want) answering the question at the end of each post.

This card has a grid on the front of the card. Here are the steps to make it. Score you white half sheet of paper at 4 1/4" using your Scor-pal. Hint: If you are making more than one card score the hold sheet first and then cut it in half!
Turn your paper over and then score it every half inch until you get to the original score line. This will make ridges on the front of your card.

Then turn the paper 90 degrees and score again ev
ery half inch to make a grid of raised lines on the front of your card.

I went to my scrap box and pulled out two half inch strips of Matchmakers paper. I cut then at 4" and 5 1/4", punch a 1 1/2" circle with the same color. Stamp the image from Simply Divine in the left corner of your card in Chartreuses. Stamper over the flowers with an ink to match the Matchmakers, here I used Orangerie. Stamp words in black in the circle. Glue the strips to the card going over the image, tape a matching ribbon on the intersection, and using mounting cushion attach the stamped circle. And you are done!! I am showing you the same card done with two different colors of paper and ink. Quick and easy ... so go try it now!! Oh .. you don't have a Scor-pal ..... then see if you can win one for half price by anwsering my question. Give me the name of your favorite TAC stamp set? Check in tomorrow for a new tutorial! Blessings

Where is that bunny?? Winner???

This is my all time favorite Easter set! I love the No Bunny Like You set! Here is another sample using it and I will post a few more this week. What I like about it is that it is not just for Easter. The bunnies and the words can be used all year long. I just love that! This card has a window at the bottom punched with my circle punch and inside the bunny in the flower pot. On the front are all of the bunnies trying to climb out of the windows. It is quick and easy to color. I used my Prisma colored pencils here and my Grey Tombow marker for highlighting the white bunny. If you have never used this before it is great for highlighting white areas: bunnies, Santa's beard, snowman etc. It can also be used to go around the outside of an image, with very light strokes, to give the illusion of depth. I love to use it also for ground on standing images so they do not look like they are suspended in mid air. Are you making your Easter cards ... you need to get hem in the mail soon!

Add a comment about what you would like to see in my blog in the future with this post by Saturday at 6 PM. I will draw one of the numbers of the comments and will send them this card in the mail. It's Angel Candy time!! Blessings

The snow is not letting up at all ... I think we have gotten at least 12 plus inches today since late afternoon. It is 11 PM here now and my back door opens to my deck and I can not get the door open at all! The porch has a bench around the back edge and the snow on the deck is now taller than the height of the bench!! They say we will get 6 more overnight and more in the morning. All schools & colleges will be closed on Wed and many business will have a delayed start since the blizzard will not be over until Wed around noon. I am glad I do not have to go out in this. Be safe everyone if you are in this blizzard!

Here is a real simple and quick card, an Angel K.I.S.S. Just mask off the card and sponge or stipple red ink over the mask so that there is more ink closer to the mask and less as you go out. Then put an embellishment on it, words, border and you are done. This card can be made in less than 10 minutes and can be adapted for many different occasions. Try your hand at it and see what you come up with. Many them up in advance and leave the words off so you can pull it out when you need a card and do not have time to make one.

The Angel Candy from yesterday has not been claimed! So if you would like me to send you the card from Monday's post ... just tell me which set I used for my picture on my TAC my story website.

Good old Rock 'n Roll!

Oh .. what fun I had last night!! I help out occasionally serving a meal for the performers for the Mentor High Performing Arts Series and last night they had Bower's Doo Wop Party! I can not ever remember having so much fun at a concert (excepts in college). I even talked to and served dinner to Bowzer (leader of the former Sha Na Na) himself!! I will confess that as a kid I had a little crush on him ... and he again stole the show for me last night. Did you know that Bowzer was a child prodigy at the piano and started classical lessons at age 7 and began attending Juilliard at age 12!! He played a few classical numbers for us too. They sang all my favorites include 'Goodnight Sweetheart'!! They had us dancing both in our seats and standing, hand jiving, singing with them, and my hands were all red from clapping to the beat! But they were not the only ones performing .. The Edsels with the great bass singer Marchall Sewell ... which they are most famous for 'Rama Lama Ding Dong'. And lastly the real Duke of Earl, Gene Chandler, sang. He still, at age 67 can make your heart stop with his voice! It was all so much fun!! If you ever have an opportunity to see this show it is so totally worth it!

So I dedicate my card today, for my week of red with love cards, to 'that good old rock 'n roll'!! This is a quick and easy card, (Angel K.I.S.S.) using three different alphabet sets, Fun-bet, Comic-bet, Alpha-bet which is a Level D Hostess set, for the background. It is so cool to have alphabet stamps around so if you want to make a red 'xo' background or a blue one you can with just the change of your inks. I embellished with a heart cut out of a scrape of red Matchmakers paper, 'I love you' from Trendy Greetings, which is a very versatile holiday greetings set, and a scrape of ribbon. These pieces are all edge with black ink and mounted on Red #2 Matchmakers card stock. This is a less than 10 minute card so you still have time to make it and get it into the mail for Wed ...Valentine’s Day.

Hey ... here's some Angel Candy (Give Aways!) for all of you! The first person to put a comment here on my blog with the name of the set I used for my story on my TAC page http://rita.ismyangel.net will get this card in the mail! Good luck and blessings to everyone!
